Hof van Saksen setting the trend as the number one luxury family resort in guest experience

Hof van Saksen, the premium family resort in Nooitgedacht, Drenthe, continues to innovate its offering, so that guests can keep on exploring, relaxing and enjoying. Currently, all farmhouses are undergoing a total upgrade both in terms of space, luxury and comfort. An ambitious project in which all farmhouses will have a completely renovated living room, kitchen, dining room and bedrooms. High-quality brands and materials have been chosen and the best designers, including Studio Piet Boon, are being partnered with. Hof van Saksen receives over 190,000 guests every year at its resort and is a trendsetter and industry leader in many areas.

The high-end design is by Studio Piet Boon, who is no stranger to Hof van Saksen. Back when the resort was built in 2007, Piet Boon designed the interior of the Havezate, which includes the spectacular indoor water park, spa and wellness and four high-end restaurants. The offering of Luxury and Luxury Wellness farmhouses is now being significantly expanded. In addition to the full Studio Piet Boon design, the farmhouses will feature a large luxury kitchen and a spacious bathroom with Finnish sauna. The outside areas of the farmhouses have also been enhanced, including a luxuriously furnished terrace with comfortable lounge set and a large veranda. The Luxury Wellness Farmhouse features a large Jacuzzi.

Family experience is paramount
As well as the aforementioned refurbishments, the ‘Newborn’ and the ‘kids’ farmhouses also underwent a complete makeover. The Newborn offers a warm home to families who have just welcomed a baby. The ‘kids’ farmhouse is ideal for families with young children, with the option of a water or adventure experience. For larger family groups and three-generation holidaymakers, Hof van Saksen created the family fun farmhouses and the culinary farmhouses. 

Meanwhile, almost half of all the farmhouses have undergone a metamorphosis. By mid-2025, all the farmhouses will have been upgraded and guests at Hof van Saksen will once again be able to explore, relax and enjoy themselves to the full.

Fun for children with adults
In addition to the existing play area Harrewar, which offers 1,100m² of fun for children, the little ones can now also enjoy endless hours of entertainment in the brand-new baby and toddler paradise measuring a further 675m². There are three special areas here for babies, crawlers and toddlers, where they can play and learn safely. The revamped bowling alley offers a spectacular and modern experience for the whole family with the hyperbowling concept. With the addition of the special baby and toddler paradise and the sensational revamp of the bowling alley, Hof van Saksen now offers almost 4,000 m² of indoor play adventure for children. For families who prefer to be active outdoors, Hof van Saksen offers a multitude of activities including the stunning 18-hole Family Adventure Golf Course. 

Unique set of waterslides completed 
A fifth spectacular waterslide was added to Hof van Saksen’s unique water park in 2023. The sensational, 120-metre-long Subito is the largest covered bowl waterslide in our country. Previously, there was the Bombo, the largest indoor slide in the world, with a free fall of more than 10 metres; the Intenso, the tallest slide in the Benelux; the Presto, known as the steepest speed slide in the Netherlands and the Saltato, measuring a massive 195 metres in length, with four funnels with a diameter of five metres.

Excellent employer
Hof van Saksen will move into a new logistics centre in April 2024. ’De Deel’ is a unique building where all the facility processes of Hof van Saksen, cleaning organisation CSU and the resort’s other partners come together to create a healthy, efficient and above all pleasant working environment. Hof van Saksen and its suppliers offer employment to some 700 employees at the resort, making Hof van Saksen an important and attractive employer in Drenthe.
