Every accommodation in the park is located directly on the water, with most accommodations even having their own jetty. Rent a canoe, sloop, sailboat or surfboard and you will experience fun on the water the entire holiday. You can take a refreshing dip from your own garden or visit the play island with beach, where the little ones can really let off steam.

In National Park De Alde Feanen

Holiday park It Wiid is located on the edge of the Alde Feanen National Park. During your stay you will be surrounded by various swamp forests, lakes, meadows, peat soil, reed lands and grasslands. In this special area you will find no less than 450 different plant species and over 100 different bird species, with the sea eagle as the highlight. Will you come and spot the Big Five of the Alde Feanen?

Discover the area

There is plenty to do at the park, but also in the area! From the park you can explore the surrounding lakes by canoe, sloop or sailboat, but also besides water sports the area has a lot to offer: discover the nature reserve via the enormous cycle route network or visit the cities of Leeuwarden or Heerenveen. Out and about with the kids? Then a day at AquaZoo Leeuwarden is recommended!

Swimming

Fancy a refreshing dip? Just dive into the water from your own garden! Hire a sloop, canoe or sailing boat and find a nice spot for a dip. Prefer a day on the beach? You can do that too! There is a play island with beach nearby. Here the little ones can play and climb around with their new holiday friends.

Food and drinks

From April to October you can use the sandwich service, which allows you to start your day with the smell of fresh, warm rolls. There is no restaurant in the park, but there are several brasseries and restaurants across the street in Earnewald.

Kids

There is endless water fun to be had at It Wiid. Children can also have fun on the play island. Here they can clamber around, build sandcastles and play with their new holiday friends.

Sport and games

The waters around park It Wiid are ideal for getting active. Hire a canoe or sup and you'll have fun for days on and around the water of nature park the Alde Feanen. For those who prefer to stay on shore, there is an indoor tennis court, a golf course nearby and fishing opportunities at the park.

Het Fries Museum

The Frisian Museum tells the story of Friesland. What is typically Frisian and what isn’t? Allow yourself to be surprised and discover that this beautiful province is much more than the ‘Elfstedentocht’ (skating journey past 11 towns), ‘Fierljeppen’ (pole vaulting across a ditch) and green meadows.

Nature museum Fryslân

In Nature museum Fryslân, you will find four floors filled with information, special animals and plants, assignments, games and other surprises waiting to be discovered. And everything is focused on the nature of Fryslân. On a day out with small children? Then be sure to visit the attic, which is home to Dragon Li-Ming.

Keramiekmuseum Princessehof

In the centre of Leeuwarden, you can find the beautiful city palace Princessehof. This ceramics museum offers you collections of Delftware and imperial porcelain from China to spectacular work by artists such as Picasso.
