Surrounded by water, our park offers the perfect base for adventures. Moor your boat on the private jetty or rent a boat nearby. Explore the Lauwersmeer, sail to Dokkum, and enjoy a wide range of water sports.

Dark Sky Park

Dark Sky Park
The park is located next to National Park Lauwersmeer, which has been officially declared a Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association. Here, it gets really dark at night, making it the perfect location to experience the starry night sky. This is particularly special in the Netherlands where light pollution makes stargazing difficult in many areas.

 Hiking and cycling
On the border of Friesland and Groningen, you will find the beautiful water landscape called the Lauwersmeer area. Walk along the dike or visit the old mill in Eanjum. A visit to the historic centre of Dokkum should not be missed either!
 Water sports
Landal Esonstad is paradise for water sports fans. Dive right into a variety of activities, such as windsurfing, sailing, pedal boats, canoeing or kite surfing. The park has a direct navigable waterway to Lauwersmeer and Schiermonnikoog. Do you like fishing? Cast your fishing rod in the fishpond or in the Lauwersmeer.
 Sports and games
Landal Esonstad offers a host of activities and fun. Hit a ball on the Pitch & Putt golf course or challenge yourself to golf with your feet, during a game of foot golf. Play a friendly competition of jeu-de-boules, table tennis, volleyball or bowling. What about the kids? They can join you or have fun with the kid-friendly Fun & Entertainment programme.
 Kids
Infinite fun! Bounce on the air trampoline, conquer the play boat or burn off energy in the Indoor Playground; everyone will have a blast! Romp around in the playhouse and on one of the playgrounds. Cuddle and tinker with Bollo in the Bollo Club. And don't miss any of the fun activities organised by the Fun & Entertainment team.
 Pitch & Putt
Landal Esonstad has a challenging 18-hole Pitch & Putt, divided into 'De Seedyk' (holes 1-9) and 'De Terpen' (holes 10-18). Due to the short distances between the holes, this course is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced players. Everyone from 8 years of age can play on this special course with height differences, water features and obstacles.
 Swimming
Experience endless swimming fun in the indoor swimming pool. Play with the little ones in the paddling pool and then take a moment for yourself in the whirlpool, the Turkish steam bath and the Finnish sauna. In summer you can swim in the Lauwersmeer and have fun on the recreational beach.

Welcome to Landal Esonstad

Landal Esonstad is located next to Lauwersmeer National Park in the Frisian town of Anjum. Landal Esonstad is a holiday park of more than 144 smoke-free residences and apartments in Old Frisian style and modern Terp houses. Have you always wanted to stay in a modern Terp house or an Old Frisian style home? At Landal Esonstad, you choose your own home harbour with an open water connection to the Lauwersmeer. Here, you are surrounded by a water-rich landscape with the Wadden Sea to the north and many inland lakes.

Friesland is a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts. You can immerse yourself in many activities, such as supping, fishing or swimming. Explore the surroundings by bike or play a round of golf on the Pitch & Putt golf course. Our boat to the island of Schiermonnikoog departs directly from the park. Children have fun in the indoor swimming pool or with one of the many organised activities organised by the Fun & Entertainment team. Or go to Dokkum with its friendly terraces, easily accessible via the 13-kilometre long bicycle route. Or combine your stay with a day trip to Schiermonnikoog (with own ferry service) or Ameland!
