Surroundings
Landal Drentse Lagune has something for everyone, whether you want to relax or go on an adventure. Visit the national parks Dwingelderveld and Drents-Friese Wold, or go sightseeing in one of the historical towns or villages. Cycling and walking paths wind through the park, passing through beautiful heathlands, sand dunes, and historical sites.
Boomkroonpad
Take an adventurous walk among the treetops. Various marked walking routes and scavenger hunts start from the Boomkroonpad. Children can play for hours in the fun forest playground.
Open-air museum Ellert and Brammert
Discover the educational folk tales about what it was like to live in south-east Drenthe. See performances of old crafts and a wonderful collection of fossils and minerals. Round the day off with a drink in the Herberg.
WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo
Travel through the savanna, the jungle and the pool area all in one day. Stand eye to eye with polar bears, elephants and even lions. Not had enough excitement yet? Ride our rollercoaster through the old Tweedstryd mine.
Hunebed Centre Borger
Discover the shadows left for us by prehistoric humans. Walk through 150,000 years of history at the centre in Borger. Get up close and personal with primitive people and visit the Netherlands’ biggest dolmen.
Memorial Centre Camp Westerbork
The heart of Drenthe is home to a place with a history. It holds the memory of the lives of hundreds of thousands of Dutch Jews. A visit to this museum takes you on a sombre trip through time.
Westerbork
In the heart of Drenthe lies the village of Westerbork. Where cows and sheep used to be gathered, the brink now acts as a charming gathering place. Here you can stroll past various shops, restaurants and the Stefanus church.
Zoo Bizar
Welcome to the Netherlands’ smallest zoo! This mini zoo can be found in an old Saxon farmhouse in Orvelte. You can get up close and personal with the animals. Staff are on hand to tell you about the animals and their lifestyles.
Orvelte Museum Village
Orvelte is Drenthe’s original village. This centuries-old municipality, featuring monumental farmhouses and streets with cobblestones and old bricks, today offers a fun, educational day out. Visit a museum or one of the special shops.
Plopsa Indoor Coevorden
Dance in the K3 disco, take a blood-curdling ride on the Wickiebaan rollercoaster, admire Bumba’s tricks and give Maya the Bee a big hug. Various indoor attractions capture the hearts of small adventurers and their families.
Col du VAM
A true mountain in the heart of Drenthe. The Col du VAM is a cycling-specific climbing course that, with an average gradient of 10.2%, is one of the steepest in the Netherlands. After the climb, you can practice your descent skills.
Kibbelkoele playpond
In the beautiful Drenthe countryside, take a refreshing dip in Speelvijver Kibbelkoele. The lake has a variety of activities and facilities for people of all ages. An ideal water adventure in the area.
National Prison Museum
Crime and punishment are timeless. But the way in which criminals are punished has changed considerably. Discover the museum in the prison village of Veenhuizen and find out everything there is to know about punishment of then and now.
