The ferry crossing & your arrival

The boat to Landal Marker Wadden departs from Bataviahaven in Lelystad at 4pm on your reserved arrival day. The boat trip takes about 30 minutes and is provided by Natuurmonumenten. On the day of departure, the boat departs from Marker Wadden at 10.00 am (between 1 October and 1 March at 10.30 am). It is not possible to depart at other times and days due to fixed sailing times.
The cost of the crossing is included in the rental price of your island cottage on your reserved arrival and departure days. The booking confirmation of your cottage is also your ticket for the boat. You do not need to make a separate reservation for this.

Please note that the times mentioned are fixed departure times. Make sure you are at the port with your luggage half an hour before departure. It may happen that the boat cannot leave due to weather conditions. You will be informed at least 24 hours in advance. Of course, alternative options will also be discussed with you at that time.

Your contactperson on the island
Marker Wadden is managed by Natuurmonumenten. During your stay the Island Guard, a volunteer of Natuur Monumenten, is your contact person. This person is present on the island 24/7 and will welcome you on arrival. The Island Guard will also be happy to share knowledge about island life with you.

Good to know

Internet facilities at the park
Free Wi-Fi is available on the entire island. Please be aware, however, that Marker Wadden is an off-grid island. This affects the Wi-Fi signal.

Pets
Pets are not allowed in the island houses.

Power supply on the island
On the island, we generate our own solar energy. We are not connected to the power grid. During your stay, it could happen that there is not enough power for all the equipment in your cottage. Should this be the case, you will not be able to use the kitchen appliances, for example. In that case, you can obtain a gas cooker from the island guards. Take this into account by, for example, bringing meals in the form of a fresh package and not just meals that have to be prepared in the oven.
Horeca
The Island Pavilion serves a variety of soft drinks, coffee, tea, wine and beer, as well as a cake, sandwich and a cup of tomato soup. Between 1 November and 31 March, the pavilion is open on days when the ferry service sails (Mondays and Fridays) between 10:30 and 16:00. On other days, the pavilion is passively open. In consultation with the island guards, we will discuss how you can use the pavilion. You can only have a drink at these times; the kitchen is closed.

Supplies

Toilet paper, a dishwashing brush and dishwashing detergent are provided in the accommodations. Other basic necessities such as coffee and tea are available for purchase on the island.

Harbour shop
On Marker Wadden, there is a cabinet in the harbour office with the following necessary provisions: coffee, coffee milk, coffee filter bags, tea, biscuits, beer, wine, soft drinks, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, soup, milk, toothbrush, toothpaste and shower foam and lady hygiene products. The cabinet is stocked once a week, gone = gone. No fresh produce is available, such as meat, vegetables and bread.
