Hiking through the Rureifel

The Eifel has much to offer to hikers. In addition to unspoilt nature in the woodland, hikers can look forward to well marked, good quality walking paths. The routes vary in difficulty, length and grade. Whether you are planning to walk for about two hours or you'd rather go for a 6.5 hour long water adventure course, the hiking trails in the Rur area of the Eifel offer something for everyone. Beaver tour in Heimbachtal

The beaver: a tough biter that is prepared for all seasons. Together with a guide, you can discover the natural habitat of beavers in Frenkbach. The tour regularly starts from the park in German school holiday periods and on public holidays and lasts about 2.5 hours. Please book up front via telephone or e-mail.

Wilderness Trail

Experience the vast variety of landscapes offered by the Eifel National Park on the enthralling Wilderness Trail. The four stages of this trail, totalling 85 kilometres in length, will take your through the wild beauty of the still “young” Eifel National Park, boasting an area of around 11,000 hectares. The individual stages are also well worth exploring, of course, and the third stage ends/starts directly in Heimbach.

Challenging cycling trips

Are you going to accept the challenge and get on the bike? Go out and discover, either together or with the whole family. The Kylltalfiets route gives you a family-friendly trip on an even to lightly hilly graded area. Select the Eifel-height route to climb and enjoy stunning panoramas. Want to cross on a mountain bike? Follow the routes of the Cycle Route Network in the VulkanBike Trailpark. In the Mountain Bike park in Hürtgewald, you can find trails for both beginners and advanced riders for ultimate riding pleasure for everyone.

Bicycle rental

Feel like going on an exhilarating bike tour through the Eifel? You can rent pedelecs, e-mountain bikes, mountain bikes, children’s bikes, bikes with trailers and even tandems in the bike rental right at the park, open all year round. We also offer accessories, such as helmets, panniers or baskets. Feel free to use our complimentary bike wash station after a tour through the country.
