Hiking and cycling

Discover everything that South Holland has to offer and get out and about with the family in the outside air. Surrounded by nature, polders and friendly towns, the possibilities are endless: enjoy the Dutch landscape on your bike, walk along the Reeuwijkse Plassen or explore Gouda on foot.

Explore the Green Heart on your bike. In and around Boskoop, Bodegraven, Waddinxveen and Gouda, there are some lovely cycling routes in the wide open polder countryside. But also closer to home, you will find some nice cycling routes, such as a tour around the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Various routes start from the Toeristisch Overstappunt, opposite the entrance to the park.
More route information

From your water residence, you can walk straight into the countryside. Via the Bruine Goud route or the Reeuwijkse Hout route, discover nice spots for a picnic, explore the countryside or sample some culture. On the banks, you can enjoy watching the boats in the wind and the lovely panoramas.

Bird watching

Reeuwijkse Plassen is a paradise for birds. In the winter and summer, they come here in huge numbers. The marshy grasslands edging the water provide an important rest and feeding area for bird species such as the Bewick's swan, widgeon and gadwall and in the summer the black-tailed godwit and the common redshank. Find a quiet spot among the reeds and try to spot them.

Tip: bicycle rental

You don't need to bring your own bike to explore the typical Dutch landscape around the park. At Landal De Reeuwijkse Plassen, you can rent ladies' and men's bikes as well as children's bicycles, child seats, child carts and go-karts.
