Island full of surprises
The shell museum and the picturesque village are recommended sights. You will find beautifully restored island houses, some of them from the 18th century. Or climb the lighthouse and go for a walk on Europe's widest sandy beach. This island is full of surprises; there is always something to do. Your car remains in Lauwersoog, since the endless cycling paths will take you wherever you want.
Walking the mud flats
If you are staying at Landal Vitamaris, be sure to take a nice rambling walk over the mud flats. An easy trip, because there is little mud. You depart from the causeway on Schiermonnikoog. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes, tide, mussel banks, oysters, cockles and birds that you come across on your way.
